Version 1.99a Beta
Copyright (C) 1993 by Cutting Edge Computing
All Rights Reserved.
TERMS OF USAGE
--------------
Listed below are the terms you must agree to before putting this software
online. If you cannot agree to these terms, for whatever reason, you are
not granted a license to use this software.
BY ACTIVELY RUNNING THIS SOFTWARE YOU AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING:
A) This software is distributed on an as-is basis. No guarantees are
provided that this software will work on your system. Additionally, no
guarantees are provided that data read from and written to your
RemoteAccess system files will be accurate. The user assumes full
responsibility for making backup copies of all important data files.
B) Cutting Edge Computing is providing this software to you to use in a
Beta test format. This means that the software has not fully been
debugged, and all aspects of RemoteAccess v2.00Γ security system may
not have been implemented. If you have extremely sensitive message
and/or file areas on your system, you are advised to test this software
for compatibility with the RemoteAccess security system before allowing
access to the mail door by users.
PROBLEM REPORTING
-----------------
Problem reports should be sent either via the International BLUEWAVE
Support Echo, or by netmail to 1:2240/176. Netmail to 1:2240/176 may not
necessarily be answered due to the large volumes of mail received.
However, you may rest assured that any bug reports will be looked into and
fixed.
When reporting problems, please explain _clearly_ the exact problem you are
having. When possible, provide log extracts, screen captures, sample data
files, etc. The more you tell me about the problem, the sooner I will be
able to fix it.
INSTALLATION
------------
If you have already installed The Blue Wave Mail Door for RemoteAccess
v1.10 or v1.11, you will simply need to copy BWMAIL.EXE, BWUTILS.EXE, and
(if desired) the new protocol driver CEXYZ.EXE into your door's directory.
No data files that the door uses have changed (yet). Command line
parameters and most other operations of the door have not changed. If you
would like to install the door's accompanying protocol driver, please
consult CEXYZ.DOC.
If you have never installed the door before, please follow the instructions
outlined in BWMAIL.DOC.
CHANGES TO THE DOOR SINCE v1.02
-------------------------------
- The door knows nothing about JAM message bases. The specs for the JAM
message base have not been released as of this writing, so it is just
plain impossible. If the door encounters a JAMmed message area, it will
simply ignore it and not offer it to the user to download.
- When determining access to message areas, the door now respects RA's
"age" parameter. If the user online does not have an age entered into
his/her user record, an age of 0 is assumed. This will prevent them
from accessing any area that has an age defined.
- When determining access to message areas, the door now respects RA's
"not flags" flag-set. If a user's flag-set has a flag that is in the
"not flag set", the user will be denied access.
- In older doors, users with SYSOP access to message areas were allowed
to download private messages, even if they were not "TO:" that user.
The door still allows this, providing the user's flag set does not
contain one of the "Sysop not flags".
- The door will not allow users to enter messages through the reader (and
subsequently upload them through the door) if the user has a flag in the
"write not flags".
- From browsing the file structures, it looks as though USERSXI.BBS is no
longer used. I am assuming that Andrew provided you with a program to
import the information that used to be stored in USERSXI.BBS to
USERS.BBS. The door tries to read all information from USERS.BBS now.
- A '%N', when included in path names defined in the BWUTILS setup program
now expands to the decimal task (or node) number passed to the door. For
instance, a download directory of "C:\RA\BWAVE\DOWN%N" would expand to
"C:\RA\BWAVE\DOWN1" ... "C:\RA\BWAVE\DOWN99". The BWUTILS editing screen
has *not* been changed to reflect this addition yet. If you are using
the '%T' substitution offered in earlier doors, you will find that it
still works as before.
WHAT THIS VERSION DOES NOT DO
-----------------------------
- As mentioned above, this version hasn't been taught how to JAM yet.
- This version of the door does not yet do FILE REQUESTING.
